Auckland’s black iron sand surf beach. Discover stories and secrets of Waitakere Ranges regional park, with
a stop at Arataki visitor centre. Enjoy the breathtaking view and grab a photo of yourself in the Giant scenic
window. Travel further west to Piha’s black sand beach and see the world famous Lion Rock. Dip your feet in
the water or go for a walk to Kitekite waterfalls.

Depart Auckland 28 Princes Street CBD 1010 (unless otherwise arranged). Travel to Arataki visitors centre and take in the breathtaking views across the Waitakere ranges, then Auckland’s west coast and black sand beach at Piha.
Piha is one of New Zealand’s best-known beach, and it has a reputation for rugged surf. It was the birthplace of New Zealand board riding in 1956 and has been the scene of both New Zealand national and international surfing championship competitions.
If you want to tryout surfing this is the place to do so! You can follow a lesson at a local surf school, who will teach you everything about surfing, if you are new to surfing or an experienced surfer, the guides will teach you new stuff to improve your skills.
Dip your feet in the water and enjoy the once in a life time views. Remember your flip flops as the black sand can get pretty hot at times. Walk up to Lion Rock or take a nature walk along the forest track to the beautiful Kitekite waterfalls.
